Cameco Corporation:

Cameco is one of the world’s largest providers of uranium fuel, powering safe, reliable, and emissions-free nuclear energy. With a strong presence in Port Hope and Cobourg, Cameco plays a vital role in supporting Ontario’s clean energy supply and Canada’s broader net-zero goals.

The company’s Fuel Services Division operates a conversion facility and fuel manufacturing plant in Port Hope, along with additional facilities in Cobourg and Blind River. More than half of Ontario’s electricity is generated using fuel products processed right here in Ontario by Cameco.

Cameco is equally committed to the communities where it operates. Built on a foundation of safety, integrity, and transparency, the company invests in programs that support youth, education, health and wellness, and overall community development. Each year, Cameco targets one percent of after-tax net earnings for local initiatives and projects.

Since 2004, Cameco’s Employee Giving campaigns have contributed over $12.6 million to local charities, including United Way Northumberland and other causes chosen by employees. In 2022 alone, employees raised over $276,000 in support of their communities.

From advancing clean energy to helping build strong, healthy communities, Cameco is proud to be part of the Port Hope region and committed to a sustainable future for generations to come.
