What is the cost?
$5,795 CAD per person, based on double occupancy.
Single Supplement: $1,700 CAD
This specially designed journey combines Cairo, the Pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum, Aswan, a three-night Nile cruise and Luxor — accompanied by Canadian Egyptologist Laura Ranieri Roy and an expert Egyptian Egyptologist guide.
What is included?

What about international airfare?
International airfare is not included, although your two flights within Egypt — Cairo to Aswan and Luxor to Cairo — are included.
We have deliberately kept international airfare separate because travellers may wish to arrive a day or two early, use airline points, travel with a preferred carrier or stay longer for an extension.
EgyptAir offers a convenient nonstop flight between Toronto and Cairo. We suggest budgeting approximately $1,600–$1,800 CAD round trip in economy, although fares will depend on your travel dates and when you book.
Recommended flight information will be provided so that arrivals and transfers (always included) can be coordinated .

Day 1 – Tuesday, April 13 | Welcome to Cairo
Welcome to Egypt! On arrival at Cairo International Airport, you will be met by our local representative, assisted through arrival formalities and transferred by private vehicle to your hotel.
After time to settle in, gather for a welcome dinner and meet your fellow travellers.

Day 2 – Wednesday, April 14 | The Pyramids of Giza
Today we explore one of the world’s greatest archaeological landscapes — the Giza Plateau.
See the Great Pyramid of Khufu, including the unforgettable experience of going inside the Great Pyramid, the Pyramid of Khafre, the Great Sphinx and Valley Temple.
Lunch is at 9 Pyramids Lounge or similar, with its spectacular panorama across the plateau.
After some afternoon downtime, head out again for an atmospheric evening visit to Khan El Khalili Bazaar and El Moezz Street, one of Cairo’s most fascinating medieval quarters.

Day 3 – Thursday, April 15 | The Grand Egyptian Museum
Today is devoted to Egypt’s extraordinary new cultural landmark, the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).
Explore the monumental Grand Staircase, colossal royal statues and galleries spanning thousands of years of Egyptian history — culminating in the magnificent Treasures of Tutankhamun, now displayed together in their new home.
Lunch is at ZOOBA, a contemporary favourite showcasing Egyptian street-food flavours, followed by a free afternoon.
Optional Evening: Dinner at Abou El Sid, known for traditional Egyptian cuisine. Cost TBA.

Day 4 – Friday, April 16 | Fly to Aswan – Philae & the Nile
Fly south to beautiful Aswan, gateway to Nubia.
Visit the island Temple of Philae, dedicated principally to the goddess Isis, before enjoying a peaceful felucca sail on the Nile.
In the afternoon, board your Deluxe Nile Cruise. Enjoy lunch onboard and settle in as the timeless landscapes of the Nile begin to unfold.

Day 5 – Saturday, April 17 | Kom Ombo & Edfu
Enjoy a wonderful day sailing north along the Nile.
Visit the unusual riverside Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to two gods, followed by Edfu’s Temple of Horus, one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt and reached by traditional horse-drawn carriage.
Between visits, relax on deck and watch the villages, fields and palms of Upper Egypt drift by.

Day 6 – Sunday, April 18 | Valley of the Kings & Luxor West Bank
Explore Luxor’s legendary West Bank, beginning with the Valley of the Kings, burial place of Egypt’s great New Kingdom pharaohs. Your admission includes entrance to three royal tombs.
Continue to the spectacular Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, dramatically set against the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari, and the monumental Colossi of Memnon.
Return to the ship for lunch and a leisurely afternoon onboard.

Day 7 – Monday, April 19 | Karnak & Farewell Dinner
After breakfast, disembark and visit the immense Karnak Temple Complex, the religious heart of ancient Thebes for nearly 2,000 years.
Walk through monumental gateways, courtyards and the breathtaking Great Hypostyle Hall, with its forest of colossal columns.
Transfer to the Steigenberger Nile Palace for time to relax before gathering for a special farewell dinner in Luxor.

Day 8 – Tuesday, April 20 | Luxor – Cairo – Onward Travel
After breakfast, transfer to Luxor Airport for your included flight to Cairo.
From Cairo, connect with your international flight home or continue your travels with an optional Egypt or Jordan extension.

Are there additional tour options if I arrive early or stay later?
Absolutely. Travellers who would like to arrive early or extend their stay can choose from several privately arranged excursions. These are an excellent way to see important sites that are not part of our main eight-day itinerary.

Abu Simbel by Air

Fly from Aswan to the magnificent rock-cut temples of Ramses II and Queen Nefertari at Abu Simbel. Built in the 13th century BCE and famously relocated in the 1960s to save them from the rising waters of Lake Nasser, Abu Simbel is one of Egypt’s most unforgettable archaeological sites.

Coptic Cairo & NMEC
$175 USD / approx. $245 CAD per person*
Explore Cairo’s early Christian heritage, including the Hanging Church, Church of St. Sergius and historic Ben Ezra Synagogue.
Continue to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) and its extraordinary Royal Mummies Hall.
The Classic Egyptian Museum

Visit the wonderfully atmospheric Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, still home to treasures you will not see at the GEM.
Highlights include Old Kingdom masterpieces, the dazzling Treasures of Tanis, the sumptuous burial goods of Yuya and Thuya, and extraordinary collections of sculpture, jewellery, coffins and antiquities.
Full-Day Saqqara
$175 USD / approx. $245 CAD per person*
Explore one of Egypt’s richest archaeological landscapes, including Djoser’s Step Pyramid, the Pyramid of Unas and beautifully decorated Old Kingdom tombs.
Visit the Imhotep Museum and descend into the remarkable Serapeum, the vast underground burial place of the sacred Apis bulls.
Lunch at Saqqara Palm Club is included.
Dahshur Pyramids & Egyptian Lunch
$150 USD / approx. $210 CAD per person*
Travel beyond the usual tourist route to Dahshur, where the Egyptians perfected pyramid building before the Great Pyramid of Giza.
Explore Sneferu’s extraordinary Bent Pyramid and Red Pyramid — the first successful true pyramid. Adventurous visitors can even venture inside.
Afterwards, return to Cairo for a classic Egyptian lunch at Abou Tarek Koshary.
Can I extend my trip even further?
Yes. We can also arrange additional Cairo hotel nights, private sightseeing, a Red Sea stay in Hurghada, or other customized Egypt arrangements.
Travellers interested in extending their Middle Eastern adventure can also inquire about a Jordan extension, featuring highlights such as Petra, the Dead Sea and Wadi Rum.
We recommend arranging optional tours and extensions early, particularly those involving domestic flights.
Who is running the tour?
The tour is presented in partnership with the Port Hope & District Chamber of Commerce and Ancient Egypt Alive.
The group will be personally accompanied by Laura Ranieri Roy, Canadian Egyptologist, lecturer, educator and founder of Ancient Egypt Alive.
Laura holds an MA in Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations (Egyptology) from the University of Toronto and has participated in archaeological fieldwork in Egypt. She has been leading specialized educational journeys to Egypt since 2016 and will provide additional historical insight and context throughout the tour.
The group will also be accompanied by a professional English-speaking Egyptian Egyptologist guide, supported by experienced local representatives and drivers.

Travel Safety & Advisory FAQ
Is Egypt safe to visit?
It is completely understandable to have questions about travel to Egypt. Egypt is a destination many people dream of visiting, but its location in the Middle East can also raise concerns, especially when there is instability elsewhere in the region.
At this time, the Government of Canada does not advise Canadians to avoid travel to Egypt as a whole. Canada’s current advisory level for Egypt is “Exercise a high degree of caution.” This means travellers should be informed, prepared, and attentive to changing conditions. It does not mean “do not travel.”
Where does this tour travel?
The Port Hope Chamber Travel Experience follows a professionally guided itinerary through Egypt’s major visitor areas, including Cairo, Giza, Aswan, the Nile cruise route, and Luxor.
The tour does not visit the regions where the Government of Canada advises travellers to avoid all travel, such as Northern Sinai and certain border areas.
How will traveller safety be handled?
Traveller safety is a priority. This experience is being planned with professional travel partners and local experts who understand the destination, the route, and current conditions on the ground.
The itinerary includes organized transfers, guided touring, selected accommodations, and a structured travel experience rather than independent travel.
We will continue to monitor Government of Canada travel advisories and relevant local conditions before departure.
What happens if the situation changes?
Travel conditions can change, and we take that seriously.
If official travel guidance changes in a material way before departure, the tour arrangements will be reviewed with our travel partners. If the Government of Canada advises Canadians not to travel to Egypt, the tour will not proceed as planned.
What about optional extensions?
Optional extensions, including Jordan or Red Sea options, will be reviewed separately from the main Egypt itinerary. Advisory levels can differ by country and region, so any extension will be considered based on the official guidance and conditions in effect closer to departure.
What should travellers do before booking?
We encourage travellers to review the Government of Canada travel advisory for Egypt, consider their own comfort level, and ask questions before making a decision.
